Should i play lefty or righty guitar?

I've been playing guitar for about 1 year now, and I am not really sure what hand I should play. I am a natural born lefty playing a righty and when I play the righty way my fretting hand has no problem but it seems that my picking hand can never reach the precision that my left hand has when I flip the guitar over....the catch is tho when I flip the guitar to the lefty side my fretting hand feels awkward and cannot move as well on the fretboard as it did when it was played righty....any advice on this? I will say that as i practiced more my right picking hand has improved but i guess it just dosent seem that it will ever get to appropriate speed or have the precision as my left does.....

What I have accomplished with guitar,and my next step ?.?

I have been playing for at least 3 years (maybe more) and stupidly never took a course never put my head in the books,never even learned names of most chords,or learned scales,and modes,or even how to read without tabs. I have the most fun with guitar when I'm making up my own songs. I listen and play mostly Metal,or ska/reggae kinds of music,and honestly with my ignorance of any kind of knowledge of the core academic parts of music I actually do pretty damn well,and can really shred some decent sounding riffs/solo's,but I'm unsatified with the fact I come up with songs and can't finish them,because I can't either link one riff to the next etc. At this point I can really move the fret board I feel if I can learn the fret board I will be a top notch guitar player. Where do I go from here ?.

Problem with guitar tuner? ( GA-1 Guitar/bass Korg Tuner)?

I have recently purchases a GA-1 Guitar/bass Korg tuner. I use the guitar setting, because I am tuning my guitar. I just want to tune it to standard tuning of EBGDAE. To do that, you would play all open notes. When I play all of the open strings to the 5th string (A), I have it tuned perfect. Then when I play the last 6th string (E), nothing happens. This tuner has a meter which moves whenever you hit a note. When I play the 6th string, the meter doesn't even move. If I press down on any fret of the 6th string though, it seems to work fine. It is just the 6th string open (E) note that is not being recognized by the tuner. Also, if I put it on the bass setting, it recognizes the 6th string. Does anyone know why it's not working? Is it just broke?

My Best friend Suicided?

It's just the way the system was set up. Someone, at some point, decided to name the notes that way. If you actually think about it, there are an infinite number of tones between each note. Practice. Remember, a lot of electric guitar is actually hammer ons and pull offs. You dont have to pick absolutely every note. Practice the angle of attack, upstroke and downstroke. Also practice string skipping patterns. Have fun!!

New guitar strings buzz?

I just put new ernie ball .9-42's on my Epiphone Les Paul classic about 3 days ago, the same I've always used, and the E string and the A string seem to buzz when fretted or played opened, the action is the same as it was before, so should I over tighten the strings so they can stretch, or will they stop after awhile?

Pull offs can either be like hammer ons just sort of in reverse where you would pull off while the string still rings on the note further up on the frets or to stop the vibrating of the string and pluck a different note... It's your frethand. make sure you're pressing really hard (especially on low strings which are thicker). Basically do what you're doing when you play individual notes and they don't buzz. It's just more difficult in chords because it's unnatural for your hand. Play a chord but play each note in the chord individually until none of them buzz. It might take time but you'll get used to it and your hands will get stronger. But since the notes work on their own, it isn't the guitar. It'll get easier!

Why do my fingers hurt so bad after fretting a chord a few times?

I am on day 2 of learning chords on the guitar. I know that finger soreness comes with the territory but omg! I can't play a chord more than a few times without excruciating pain in my fingers. hi i am 13 year old boy. all my life i have a been a chubby kid and my parents would all ways make fun of me for it. when i was a little kid they would make me want to run to my room and cry. it wasn't till i was 9 i started getting dangourasly obese. when my parents made fun of me i would always turn to food for comfort. now i am 5'4 and 406 pounds. i currently have type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and my heart is not beating normally. even now my parents still make fun of my weight. like last week i decided to relax in my hot tub and my mom saw me shirtless and said "jeez, you have bigger boobs than me, do we need to get you a bra." to be honest my 17 year older sister (who is skinny) has been the only person in my family who has never made fun of me and when my parents make fun of me she is always there to say "dont listen to them" and says "i still love you just the way you are." since my parents always call me fat i decided a good way to rebel was to keep eating. so for the past year i have been going to fast food restaurants 2-3 times a day. like yesterday i ate 2 large pizzas, a big mac, and 3 tacos right in front of my parents. after all of that i was full but i pushed my self to eat a whole box of twinkies and a family sized bag of dorritos when i was done i could see the anger in my parents eyes. i took of my shirt so my parents could see my weight gain progress and i started playing with my moobs and saying how mine are nice and big and hers are small and nasty it really hurt her feelings. now i dont so much eat out of revenge now i eat out of pleasure. i am addicted to food and i cant stop. i know what im doing is bad for my health but i cant stop my self from eating large amounts of food. its gotten to the point were i can barely walk anymore, and when a take only a few steps i get this raging pain in my knees. how can i stop my addiction.

Help, no idea about music, but my son is trying to sing Cats in the Cradle. Plays it well on the guitar and puts his capo on Fret 3. He sings it well, but as a youngster he troubles with the lower notes and ends up being quiet. When he tries to sing in (what he tells me is a key of C) he ends up singing too high. Electric guitar weakness?

Ok is it me or is it a weakness with guitars. It's happened on both my old and new one. It seems that the soldering for where the Amp wire plugs in has broken again so the copper cable which sends the frequency down it has basically broken off and needs re soldering. Now it's an easy fix, but it's just a pain in the ***. Does this happen to all guitars? It's not as if i don't look after it. Every month i change the srtings and polish the fret board. Also after i've used it withough fail, it goes into it's case. let me know if this is usual?

What did you learn from having a baby?

My babies are now 6 and 3 years old. But I agree with just about everything you said. I also breastfed and I always say that if you can stick it out those first few weeks, then it becomes easy. My nipples were sore, hurt, bled, with both kids but happily breastfed for a long time with each one and will always miss it. I was a reader and preparer too and nothing in those books prepare you for real life but I was so thankful that I have a natural mother's instinct and when I wasn't sure, I could call my mom for help. Both of my kids have fallen off of something as a baby and it's usually when I was right there and trying to be extra careful. The only thing I didn't get to experience is my libido coming back... I wonder when it will come back. LOL! My husband and I have to work at our marriage so never think that having a child is going to make your marriage stronger. Marriage is work no matter what and having kids seems to test all of it.
